A Guide to Posting Pictures on the Forum

Posting photos on the board can be a daunting prospect for new users, although if you follow the guidelines below it really needn't be! This guide will help you get things right, but please feel free to post on the Forum Help & Suggestions board if you still struggle.

First step: Preparing your photographs.

Before you post your pictures on here, use your camera's editing software to adjust and resize your photo accordingly. Ideally photos should be under 500-600 pixels in width or height so as to load quickly and be easily viewable by members of the board. If you do not have any editing software, there are free programs to download online. Try Google to find one. If anyone has any safe download links to list here, please contact an admin.

Next: Uploading your photos.

Photos need to be hosted online to be seen by people and posted on the boards. Sites such as Photobucket and Flickr are good places to try, my recommendation to beginners would be to use Photobucket as it makes the steps below much easier. All you need to do is create an account and follow the steps they give for you to upload your photos. Then we're ready for the next step.

Adding your uploaded photos to a thread.

Once you have your photos hosted online, you can post them in a thread on here.

If you are using Photobucket this is very simple, as all you have to do is copy and paste the "IMG code" given under the photo into the message box. You then are done and can ignore the steps below.

Otherwise, you need to find the "URL" address of your hosted photo, highlight it, and right click and "copy" it.

Then click the little image icon above the posting box (if you hover over it it says "Image"). This will bring up [ IMG] (without any spaces).

You then right click and "paste" the photos "URL" address, making sure there are no spaces between the [ IMG] tag and the address.

Clicking the image icon above the posting box again will bring up [ /IMG] after your photo's address, leaving you with some code in the box that looks like this (without the spaces):

[ IMG]http://photobucket.com/youralbum/yourphoto.jpg[ /IMG]

The image doesn't show up in the posting box, that's fine. If you click "Preview" or "Post", your image will be there.

Happy posting!
